# Newsletter Settings

> Configure your newsletter's name, branding, language, and more

Newsletter settings control the core identity and configuration of your newsletter. Access them at **Settings → Newsletter → General**.

## Basic information

* **Newsletter name** — The public name of your newsletter (max 255 characters).
* **Description** — A short description of what your newsletter is about (max 500 characters). Shown on your public site.
* **Language** — The primary language of your newsletter. Used for locale-specific formatting.

## Newsletter URL (subdomain)

Your newsletter is published at `yoursubdomain.letterbucket.com`. You can change the subdomain at any time from this page — the new URL takes effect immediately.

**Rules for a valid subdomain:**

* Only lowercase letters (`a–z`), numbers (`0–9`), and hyphens (`-`)
* Maximum **63 characters**
* Cannot be all numbers
* Cannot start or end with a hyphen
* Accented characters and special characters are not allowed

If the subdomain you want is taken, LetterBucket will suggest available alternatives based on your newsletter name.

  If you have a [Custom Domain](/custom-domain/set-custom-domain) configured, your readers always use your own domain regardless of subdomain changes.

## Logo and images

* **Logo** — Upload your newsletter or personal brand logo. Shown in the header of your site and emails.
* **SEO image** — A custom image used for social media previews and search engine cards when your site is shared.

Both images support drag-and-drop upload and are automatically optimized.

## Discovery categories

Choose up to **3 categories** that describe your newsletter's topic. These are used for discovery within the LetterBucket platform.

Available categories include: News, Politics, Business, Startups, Marketing, Finance, Technology, AI, Design, Health, Travel, Writing, Gaming, Sports, and more.

## Subscribe button text

Customize the text on the subscribe button across your site and forms (max 50 characters). Default is "Subscribe".

## UTM tracking

Automatically append UTM parameters to all links in your emails for tracking in Google Analytics or similar tools.

| Field             | Description                          |
| ----------------- | ------------------------------------ |
| **utm\_source**   | Traffic source (e.g. `letterbucket`) |
| **utm\_medium**   | Channel (e.g. `email`)               |
| **utm\_campaign** | Campaign name                        |

You can also toggle **Automatic UTM tagging** on or off. When enabled, UTM parameters are appended to all outgoing links automatically.

  UTM values only accept alphanumeric characters, underscores, hyphens, and dots.

## Authors

You can add co-authors to your newsletter. Each author has:

* **Name** and **bio**
* **Profile image**
* **Role**

Authors can be linked to a LetterBucket user account or added without one.

  Deleting an author who is associated with existing posts will show a warning. Confirm you want to proceed before saving.

## Branding

If your plan includes the **Remove Branding** option, you can hide LetterBucket's logo and attribution from your public site and emails.
